Dear great grandfather of Gabriel, Ania, Kali, and Kadi. Carmina Pepe Enjoyed caring for her family Carmina Pepe, 84, of Eltingville, Staten Island, died on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at home. Carmina was one of nine children. She was born in Italy and came to New York in 1963. Known as “Nonna” to everyone, Carmina’s joy was caring for her family and cooking traditional Sunday dinners. She was a pillar of strength until the end. Carmina was predeceased by her husband, Alfonso, in 1987. She is survived by her children, John, Maria Pepe LaMantia, and Frank. She was the fond mother-in-law of Vera, Anthony, and Marianna. Carmina was a loving grandmother to nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Rosa, and brother, Luigi. Viewing will be held at Colonial Funeral Home on Thursday and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Holy Child Church.

Rosemary Manzulli, a longtime supporter of charitable causes, died Thursday in the Noble Horizons Nursing Home, Salisbury, Conn. after a long illness. She was 72. Longtime community leader Rosemary Manzulli dies at age 72 Rosemary Manzulli Born in Bayonne, the former Rosemary Gallagher relocated with her family to Midland Beach as a young child. A graduate of New Dorp High School, Mrs. Manzulli earned a bachelor of arts degree from the former Notre Dame College, Grymes Hill. She and Michael Manzulli, an attorney and chairman and chief executive officer of the Richmond County Savings Foundation, married in 1965. The couple lived on Staten Island for most of their lives, first residing in New Dorp and later settling in the community of West Brighton. A school teacher, Mrs. Manzulli taught English in Egbert Intermediate School, Midland Beach. Mrs. Manzulli was involved with many local charities and culturals including Project Hospitality. According to her daughter, Mia Manzulli, she especially loved The New York City Ballet, having supported the Dancers Transition Project. Mrs. Manzulli also was a generous supporter of Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Garden, the Staten Island’s Children Museum, the Chinese Scholar’s Garden at Snug Harbor and The Richmondtown Historical Society, in addition to Notre Dame Academy and Staten Island Academy, the schools her children attended. However, said her daughter, ”My mom would most want to be remembered for being a wife, mother and grandmother.” In addition to her husband, Michael, and daughter Mia, Mrs. Manzulli is survived by another daughter, Alison Manzulli Kane, a son, Michael Manzulli and five grandchildren. Mrs. Manzulli’s children noted: ”Our mother was a warm, generous, and gracious presence in all of our lives. She was good to everyone and took care of everyone. She especially loved being a grandmother and doted on the youngest members of our family. Whether picking out a special book or finding the perfect Christmas dress, she couldn’t do enough for those whom she loved.” Arrangements include a funeral mass in St. Margaret Mary R.C. Church, Midland Beach, Friday, April 8 at 10 am.
